The Foundation

Social development needs dialogue and understanding. Through our operational projects, in our networks, and with cooperations, we take on current social challenges in areas of activities comprising “Knowledge for Tomorrow”, “International Understanding” and “Vibrant Civil Society”, as well as with “Cultural Impulses for Hamburg”.

Inaugurated in 1959 by the entrepreneur Kurt A. Körber, we are now actively involved in our own national and international projects and events. In particular, we feel a special bond to the city of Hamburg. Furthermore, we run an office in Berlin.

Locations of Körber-Stiftung

We are active locally, nationally and internationally with our projects and events. Körber-Stiftung is headquartered in Hamburg’s HafenCity. Here we offer insights into the topics of our foundation’s work with the KörberForum and a space for young entrepreneurs with the Körber Start-Hub. In Hamburg-Bergedorf, we can be found in the KörberHaus, a place for all generations and cultures. In our Berlin Office on Pariser Platz in Berlin, we organise dialogues for decision-makers.

KörberForum

At the KörberForum in Hamburg’s HafenCity, we organise around 80 public evening events on socially relevant topics every year.
Discussions and talks, concerts, film premieres and performances bring together people from different political, social and cultural backgrounds – both on the podium and in the auditorium.

Körber Start-Hub

The Körber Start Hub offers an open arena for young entrepreneurs who want to improve society. At the Start Hub, they will find a comprehensive range of opportunities to learn together and to network and found their own social start-up.

KörberHaus

The KörberHaus is a place for all generations and cultures. Together with the Bergedorf district office and eight other partners, we create a new meeting place in Hamburg-Bergedorf for greater togetherness and a vibrant civil society. By holding events at our new location, we bring people together, stimulate debates and promote voluntary involvement. And at KörberHaus we develop our operational projects in the areas of ageing and demography, which have a nationwide impact.

Shared Civic Spaces

We provide space for non-profit organisations. Whether it’s a club workshop, a debate or a benefit concert – in the KörberHaus we offer a professional theatre stage of almost 1,000 square metres, the Körber Hall with its high-quality equipment, and other flexibly-usable event spaces. Schools, sports clubs, cultural associations, aid services and migrant communities: You are all welcome to enrich the KörberHaus with your ideas.

Open Space

Good things happen where people come together and tackle problems as a team. The Open Space in the KörberHaus offers 50 m² of meeting space and opportunities for everyone who wants to take responsibility and make Bergedorf a better place.

The Open Space creates space for civic engagement in Hamburg-Bergedorf – for everyone whose idea of a good community is still in its infancy and where infrastructure and networks are lacking.

The Open Space is particularly aimed at individuals and small groups who are not organised in fixed non-profit structures and are looking for their own way to develop and implement their projects for good coexistence.

Berlin Office

In our Berlin Office on Pariser Platz in Berlin, we offer a space for decision-makers from politics, science and think tanks to exchange ideas and find solutions to current political challenges together.

The Körber Dialogue with Zukunft MEMORIAL and Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center are also located there.

We are supporting our long-standing partner MEMORIAL in a multi-year programme to organise work from exile in Germany after the liquidation in Russia. With the Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center, which had to leave Russia and relocate to Berlin due to increasing repression, we are intensively continuing our existing cooperation on the shared premises.
