The Student Research Centre (SRC) is the place in Hamburg where young people with an appetite for STEM can experiment and do their own research. We support theHamburg SRC to inspire young people about science and technology and to promote talent. In joint events for teachers, we strengthen the networking of the Hamburg SRC in the school and extracurricular educational landscape.

Inquisitiveness rather than grades: Hamburg SRC offers young people with interest, motivation and talent a free space for their own research projects. Because, for the STEM sector, the Hanseatic city lacked what music- or sports-loving children and young people have long had. Therefore, the Schülerforschungszentrum Hamburg gGmbH (Student Research Centre – SRC) was founded in 2016 under the joint sponsorship of the Körber-Stiftung, the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, the Joachim Herz Foundation, the University of Hamburg and the Nordmetall Association, and the research and learning laboratory opened its doors in 2017. Since then, many young researchers have also taken part in competitions. Without grades, but with great achievements and successes.

Das SFZ Hamburg ist ein Sprungbrett für junge Forscher:innen. So belegte 2021 die Jungforscherin Aruna Sherma den zweiten Preis in der Kategorie Physik beim Bundeswettbewerb Jugend forscht und gewann zudem einen Sonderpreis. Ihr Projekt – die Erforschung eines ungiftigen Kontrastmittels für MRT-Untersuchungen – startete sie am SFZ Hamburg. Über ihre beeindruckende Geschichte berichteten unter anderem der Stern, SZENE Hamburg und der NDR.
