With this series of events we dedicate ourselves to the current social and political events in Iran from the perspective of music and art. The focus is on the role and importance of culture and art and their influence on social and political developments as well as the task and responsibility of cultural workers.
Since September 2022, more and more people in Iran and around the world have taken to the streets against the country’s leadership. In many cases, it is mainly young people and students, as well as artists and scientists, who are leading the resistance. Not only the economically and politically disastrous situation and the international isolation of the country, but especially the massive violation and suppression of human rights and especially women’s rights, has been an issue that deserves more attention since the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
The voice of protest against the Iranian government has become unmistakable in recent months, despite violent repression by the regime, both within the country and internationally. In this context, artistic forms of expression of the cultural workers living in the country and abroad as well as their medial dissemination play an important role.
With this series of events, we dedicate ourselves to the current social and political events in Iran from the perspective of music and art. With music, performance and film contributions as well as discussions, we offer a stage to actors from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg as well as renowned guests who deal with this current topic from different perspectives.
The informative and varied program is conceived by Bahar Roshanai (Körber Stiftung).
