Exile Media Forum 2022

The fourth Exile Media Forum took place on 16 and 17 May 2022. The event was opened by the keynote speech by Ivan Kolpakov, editor-in-chief of the exile Russian medium meduza.io. The largest specialist conference for exile journalism in Germany was dedicated to press and media freedom in Europe, digital security and dealing with spy software, among other topics. In a spotlight, we looked at the situation of Ukrainian media in Germany and Ukraine, with bringing the editor-in-chief of KATAPULT Ukraine, Roksana Panashchuk, on stage.

A separate spotlight was on the situation of exile journalism in Africa, which we conducted in cooperation with the Media Programme Sub-Saharan Africa of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung e.V. On the conference, we also presented our report on exile journalism in Europe. On 17 May, the Young Exile Media Forum took place for the first time, offering exile journalists under 35 the opportunity for networking and exchange.
