The aim of our Körber Emerging Middle Powers Initiative (KEMP) is to promote dialogue between Germany and emerging middle powers. By means of an annual survey, the initiative also contributes to a deeper understanding of geopolitical perspectives in countries that belong to this grouping, such as Brazil, India, and South Africa. In addition, KEMP brings together experts and decision makers from those countries and other emerging middle powers with their German counterparts to contribute to their active exchange.

In the Körber Policy Game a small group of high-ranking international politicians, government officials, and experts discuss and analyze the interests of various foreign policy actors in the context of a fictional scenario. The Körber Policy Game is based on the idea of projecting current foreign and security policy trends into a future scenario – seeking to develop both a deeper understanding of the interests and priorities of the different players and possible policy options.

Connecting actors, advancing concrete initiatives and, in doing so, strengthening the multilateral order – these are the objectives of the Paris Peace Forum. Since 2018, the forum offers a platform for several thousands of actors from politics, economy, and society that champion transnational cooperation for tackling global challenges. As a founding member, we actively participate in the design and implementation of the Forum and its annual conference.

In the VERSUS series, two guests discuss the pros and cons of a current issue in German and European foreign and security policy. The debate follows a fixed timetable. An audience poll before and after the discussion reveals which arguments were convincing. VERSUS is a cooperation between the Körber-Stiftung and the Süddeutsche Zeitung, and is moderated by Karoline Meta Beisel, Deputy Head of the Politics Department.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine marks a historical turning point. Looking ahead, European countries will have to come up with a new vision of how the future European security order should look like. Which norms and rules should underpin it? What roles will there be for organisations like the EU, NATO, or the OSCE? In finding answers to these questions, France, Poland, and Germanywill have a significant role to play. For this purpose, we initiated the Weimar Task Force on the European Security Order in February 2022.
