‘… my formerly so beloved Hamburg.’ Like almost all the Jews who fled Hamburg, the export agent and publisher of the ‘Hamburger Verladehandbuch’ Albert Serkes, who lived in Chilehaus, emigrated by ship via the harbour. Author Michael Batz tells the story of flight and exile based on the history of two Hamburg locations that he researched for his latest books – the ‘Chilehaus Story’ and ‘The House of Paul Levy. Rothenbaumchaussee 26’. He presents moving biographies.
