The mixed reality experience invites visitors into a holographic gallery providing a close-up look at what happens when the rhetoric of the state and the lived experience of citizens tell different stories.

Co-Produced by Trial And Error Studio, ETT and National Theatre Immersive Storytelling Studio

In 2016, the United Nations launched an investigation in the UK that found "grave or systematic violations" of the rights of people with disabilities in the context of the changing benefits system. The mixed reality experience MUSEUM OF AUSTERITY invites visitors into a holographic gallery providing a close-up look at what happens when the rhetoric of the state and the lived experience of citizens tell different stories. The project won the IDFA DocLab Award for immersive non-fiction for its impressive combination of digital technologies and inclusive storytelling.

Recommended from 18 years. We offer a sighted guide experience, which is where a host accompanies a blind audience member around the space during the actual experience. There will be a visitor guide here soon that provides full information about the experience including access and content notes.
