Körber Young Directors Studio
For the 21st time, the Körber Young Directors Studio is bringing together the next generation of theatre makers in Hamburg. From 28 May to 1 June 2025, students from directing courses at German-speaking universities will present their productions, which have been nominated for the festival by their universities.
Young theatre makers will engage in dialogue with the audience and visitors from the German-speaking theatre scene. As a laboratory for new forms of theatre, the festival presents a wide range of themes and aesthetic approaches which the invited young theatre makers explore. It also offers room for discussion about staging approaches and working methods. Thirteen productions will be staged over five days at the festival centre in Thalia Gaußstraße and at Theaterakademie Wiesendamm 13. These include a production from Budapest, Hungary, by this year's international guest university, Freeszfe, in cooperation with Katona József Theatre.
The festival is a joint project of the Thalia Theatre, the Körber Foundation, and the Theatre Academy Hamburg, under the patronage of the German Stage Association.
