Exile Media Forum 2026

The 8th annual Exile Media Forum (EMF) will take place on 13 October 2026 in Hamburg, Germany. The EMF offers a unique opportunity to discuss current challenges in exile journalism, learn about best practices, and (re)connect with colleagues from exile media outlets, as well as with representatives from politics and the civil sector.    

This year’s EMF will feature:  

• Keynote by Syrian Journalist Mohammad Bassiki, founder of SIRAJ – Syrian Investigative Reporting for Accountability Journalism  

• Panels on digital authoritarianism, transnational repression and exile journalism from Latin America

• Deep dives for sharing best practices and fostering peer-to-peer exchanges
