Beyond Borders: A Conversation on Art and Exile

The journalist Yasmin Merei and the poet Ghayath Almadhoun talk to each other about art in exile and the political in poetry. Both come from Syria and now live in Berlin. Ghayath Almadhoun’s works have won many awards. In 2022 he was a fellow at the Thomas Mann House. He describes exile as “living in the parallel”. The linguist and human rights activist Yasmin Merei was a fellow at Villa Aurora in 2015. She runs a network for refugee women in Berlin.
