Kick-off event with the "Speech on Exile"
At the centre of the opening event is the “Speech on Exile” by patron Christopher Hope. The South African writer and poet had to leave his homeland in the 1970s in order to be able to publish his works critical of apartheid. In the subsequent discussion round, various facets of flight and exile will be examined, including with the UN Refugee Agency. The Yaron Quartet of the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn will provide the musical programme for the evening.
